Do you remember the Erin Featherstone (what ever happened to her anyway?)collab line from Target circa 2011? Well I sure do. I was delighted when I found this rabbit baby doll dress whilst thrifting yesterday. While a a bunny dress is an excise to sport a teeny tiny top hat I will spare you. Added a red leather Kate Spade bow belt to replace the original missing one and Seigerson Morrison lace up booties. Baby doll dresses are hardly flattering, I will admit, however all you can eat sushi here I come

Victoria Beckham and Target: it's not what you'd think
Were ya'll at Target this morning for the drop of Posh's collab? No? Well you missed a super cute retro Brady romper orange mishmosh of stuff. First I must say kudos to her for acknowledging there are indeed larger women out there and giving them a full gambit of styles in the PLUS line. When you are that skinny perhaps it would not cross your mind but anyhoo. I was also super sad to see the rabbit theme was in children's only. Luckily I think the XL kids might fit moi so I'm off to get this collared chemise. This collection, while indeed adorable just seems to be all over the place. (Except for sexy. there is absolutely no sexy here.) There is the aforementioned Brady look with orange, scallops and A line. There is the Manrepeller with coulottes, high neck blouse and carwash skirt. Oh, and lets not forget the Goth bee and bug print jacket dress and tank. Something for everyone I guess including bebee and coloring book class

Target dog apparel, two of my favorite things
So I just got a new dog. and he is little with very short fur so I can legit put an sweater on him not just for my personal fun but for his personal health and safety. So there.
I paid special attention when I heard about blogger Oh Joy and her line for dog things for Target. As I suspected, lots of stripes and rainbows and at least one ridiculousness in the form of dog cape. Otherwise cute, not too deep, with the party hats and heart shaped bed being the standouts. I do not love the striped shirts, essentially the only clothes they offer so that was sad for Scrap and I. Not sure if it is online only but I certainly did not find it at the Glendale Target

Folk dance
In the name of Vita Kin I present to you the catalyst for never buying a white handbag again. It was filthy within a week of procuring it. Centos offered to dye it, but I dunno, $60 bucks seems like a lot for a bag I'm getting ready to ditch.
Also: attended the Pattern workshop and got the inside scoop on being a fashion journalist from Abby Gardner a local girl who MADE IT. And confirmed my suspicious that traditional blogging is dead. (Yes I know I am clearly not taking my own advice but sometimes insta is just not enough) Anyhoo, Pattern has these things once a month and if you don't have to drive everyone to violin lessons that night I strongly suggest you try to attend.

Shopping parties? Booze required for attendance
I have an issue with shopping parties. Sell me purses, jewelry, candles, sex toys and God forbid baskets? No. I can get that shit wholesale, is my philosophy. However occasionally I find myself at one of these possibly accidentally sometimes on purpose which happened recently. Perhaps it was the free cupcakes or maybe the proximity to a brewery but there I was at a Premier designs party and I did not hate it. It is quite frankly is a quality jewelry line. I mean Target stuff is great looking until you fall down or something then your beaded bracelet necklace set is all over the floor. I especially likes the idea of the change out, meaning you can use these locking pieces to create new looks and many of the items, like pendants and earrings, were two sided with totally different finishes. Oh and the magnet clasps are awesome if you are completely sick of your lobster claw clasp not hooking properly pretty much every single damn time. Also the family business is magnets so I have to fully support that hi dad. Inspirational (aka God stuff), statement, and some teeny subtle personal pieces were on many wish lists ( nosy me peeking). Its hat season! Calling Janessa Leone
My friend Laura Walters can rock a hat, I cannot, I fact I am most jealous of. Have you gone hat shipping lately? And I do not mean Easter/wedding/derby crazy hat shopping. I mean for an everyday staple, well made and classic that does not require a trip to Amish land? (which I have done by the way, just for a hat). Janessa Leon has created a line of just that, well made toppers in a floppy, boater and fedora style and neutral colors encouraging daily wear, which lets face it, it is a lot less sticky then 60 SPF. . Get them here

Bulletproof Coffee; shoot me now
I am a tired person. Though I don't really look it thanks to my $150 YSL eye cream that comes with it's own spatula. you know, BECAUSE MY EYE BAGS NEED AN ACTUAL TOOL TO FIX. So when I heard about Bulletproof coffee and it's amazing all day memory sharpening abilities and all day alertness, I was totally in.
Here's the deal: freshly brewed coffee is blended with grass fed butter (like Kerrygold) and coconut oil, making it latte-ish.
Here's my deal :First I blew the lid off the blender whizzing up the hot coffee, probably should have used the Ninja there. That made me seriously awake, so it's working already. The website suggests 3 tablespoons of butter which is a damn lot and my special fancy butter did not have those nifty ruler marks on the wrapper, so I totally had to guess and probably over estimated and I added a lot of coconut oil because I like it. Bulletproof actually sells their own brand of all of these things but since I blew my budget on eye spackle I felt I should cool it down at bi and do the homemade thing. .Anyway, it tasted pretty good, not fall down amazing but shit, Kerrygold butter in pretty much anything, do I need to finish that sentence?
Of course there is a downside. I had to keep it hot so the butter didn't congeal, I probably consumed about 500 calories and, dammit, I didn't feel that much more alert. Le sigh

Iggy
I want to like you, you seem so REGULAR despite the lizard nickname but not. Iggy Azalea and Steve Madden shoe collab is 20% awesome and 80% trashy. As to be expected. I hate this particular featured shoe. BUT there is really fab aqua mesh bootie that rocks (a picture I cannot find online) and
a few flats that are totally acceptable. Otherwise yuck. This whole collection is a rehash per use. Fancy is a rip off of Gwen Stefani, ginormous asses are never classy and while I admire her on staff brow professional, in general this look is neither original nor aspirational. STOP IT

Surprise purse
I snagged this cutie purse thinking it was a 1960's crochet wicker basket style. It is not. Guess who this is? Michael Simon! Of the sparkle sweater Micheal Simon! I almost forgive him

Wendy Winter retro fun
This is the label of the ginormous bell bottom polyester plaid 1970's pants I wore today. Forgot to get a snap but I added a cashmere Isli rhinestone epulate sweater and Coach platform clogs with stud detailing. I love the way "Jack Winter", a fusty knitwear company from the 1960's , re-branded to accommodate the young'ums

Regret
He who hesitates is lost but is that always the case when you are just trying to get a bargain? I went to an antique store closing this weekend and bought a few things at 25% off but one I found out the next day was half off, well, I decided to be strategic and wait on the higher priced items including an amazing thick bangle with a large car face on rolled gold. Lets face it, I was keeping that for myself but did not feel particularly indulgent so I summoned some self discipline and decided to take a chance and wait. Needless to day, I gambled and lost. Now I am completely obsessed with it and if I ever see it again I will pay pretty much whatever they want for it. Sigh. I did score these 1940's hood ornaments and metal rocket bank, a small consolation

Halloween
Being a vintage shop, we get our share of first timers in around Halloween looking for a costume. I am always curious what will be the retro trend. 8 years ago the "pimps and hos" was a big thing with zoot suits and teeny outfits along with Titanic turn of the century hats and garb. Harder to find then you might think. Thank god for the MadMen trend, QB has 50's dresses all day long. This year the 20's Gatsby thing is still going strong as well as a general "gore" type theme, probably zombie based. I will break out my new go to standard of 60's majorette outfit, since I ruined my bad fairy costume in 2011

Muffy, a slipper for us! JP Crickets

The ultimate in prep "le smoking slipper" as found new life as a promo collegiate device as presented by JP Crickets . Italian made lounge footwear that can be customized to the alma mater of choice or for a few bucks more your own family crest or whatev. This is super elegant and comfy casual shoe that is perfect for knocking around or tailgating and at $298 better be (and probably is) a quality shoes

Buy local look international HOUSE OF FIFTH
![]() |
| Traveler Bag $995 |
One of my first blog posts was about a House of Fifth fashion show and while I wasn't entirely sure of what was going on at the time, the production values were at least fabulous. This local fashion house has evolved quite a bit since then, nixing the highly stylized logo tees and filmy scarves to currently produce a decidedly elegant yet edgy leather good line. Truen James, the head designer and creator of the house, brough me one of these ginourmous Traveler bag samples last year and I finally got around to purchasing one for myself, as well as a studded bracelet splurge for my "goth" (haha if she only knew) kid at The Bindery show last First Friday @ the Harrison. Truen and I talked for over an hour about his vision for the company and why this is not a nationally known insider brand I will never know. Perhaps production is a problem since they are all custom designed and hand made though I do wish my dust cover had a big cool logo on it

Ignore the retail feet
What will $9.99 get you? These orange owl jelly sandals from F21, thats what. A collab from the hot British rubber shoes designer Melissa also has sleek thin strappy ones and a studded gladiator in color block. Also got a leather sleeve olive cargo jacket but passed on the pleather overalls. Just no

Not as booty as pictured
I bought these shorts at H&M today. Going to pair them with my new Madewell chambray shirt rolled and tied at the waist with cut out tan canvas Tieta boots then later a plain tank with possibly glitter platforms for PM. They do not need a lot of accessorizing being so busy and all. Through H&M's Sustainability Program I got 15% off for bringing in some old frocks for recycling which put a dent in the $49 price tag (not on sale, can you believe I got it anyway? SMHS)

Classic
Been in search for the perfect basic chambray shirt. Want to pair it tucked in with navy cream striped J Crew raffia pencil skirt, as a bathing suit cover up and tied under bust w black high waisted shorts (not all at once) While I could dig up my oversized acid washed Guess one from 1987 I decided it needed to be a bit more fitted and less acidic. After tearing up the Madewell display (geez they all has the sleeves rolled up how am I supposed to try them on) of various styles, settled on the 'EX BOYFRIEND LIGHT" (perhaps that is why he is an Ex) sadly not on sale and will never be according to the heavily banged associate.
Finally got to the C Wonder store and did I feel like Victoria's Secret (mirrors and stuffed logo dogs) Kate Spade ( Hollywood Glam) and Dollar Store (overwhenming smell of plastic wrap). threw up. Get it together Chris! Signature scent! Lose the dog! Was hoping to get a stack of enameled bracelets but didn't feel I should reward the branding fail

Black please
Summer festivals require madcap glasses and these mod mod world ones from Boohoo will do the trick. Yup, they are across the pond evidenced by 'scripts like dungaree and ghilet, but provide free ship if you meet the max order. Since these lovelies were only 12 bucks (!!!) I had to add a romper and a sweet metallic clutch to the mix. Durn it

Don't go there
What can't you buy at Target? No longer is that answer "wedding dress". The Tevolio capsule collection is online only, starts at $66 to $159 and is totally boring. Look, people, if your goal is a $99 wedding dress try Cache, BCBG or even bebe. Or just wait until prom season markdowns at major department stores, the Pearl collection at JC Penney is particularly nice. It's OK
