OOTD

These strappy boots sure are comfy but make me look like I have platypus feet. J Crew top, Free People dress, Kenzie boots

Change is not good. in this case anyway

Nanette Lepore designs beautiful feminine clothes with a fun twist and it was perfectly expressed with her hand drawn girl about town hang tag. She recently changed her logo to a minimalist name only and I am like, all, "who are you now, Theory? Please, no" I will be warily keeping an eye on this development

Why. Srsly. Why

@ Pottery Barn. Do you want a vintage 1940's telephone or a cordless one? Because trying to do both is just stupid

Made up for it in the dinner bill

Juicy did this sequin stripey shirt thing a few years ago and I could not resist this disco blues clues Arden B knock off for EIGHTY NINE CENTS at VV. And, yes, that is a plate of raw meat in front of me

Thrifting

Find of the day. Wonderful satin blue cabbage rose early 1960's evening clutch. Zip it or clip it

One Day

Susie at Stylebubble is truly my fashion inspiration. This is so weird but yet it works. I just hope to be so brave someday. Srsly

Cuter in person

I wore a shirt so unspeakably ugly yesterday I was almost forced to turn in my Indyfashbash licence. Today was a little better. Anthropologie skirt (now on sale, bastards), J Crew top, 3 dots shrug.
It was a great store song day. I mouthed along to "You're the one that I want" at Value Village, smiled knowlingly at "27 Jennifer" at Marsh and plain old got down to the Mary Jane Girls "In My House" at Walgreens

yes can be the only answer to that question, whether true or not

Soooooo tired of my winter clothes but I have not seen much to inspire me for spring except i am going to get one of those skinny double wrapped belts. I was grouchily unloading my car at the office and some guy drove by and inquired, and I quote" Do you have a man?" and I just wanted to ask him how this innovative and romantic pick up line works out for him. You know, NORMALLY. But I thought it not a good idea to engage him any further lest he think I was playing hard to get.

yes, I am at the dentist

Busted out one of the bargain dresses I got from BCBG. Love it! Interesting colors and great fit. Sadly, I dumbed it down with an obvious shoe choice and, even more pathetic, I think I saw it on Leanne on Real Housewives of NYC

So secret you can't find it

Mitchell Donaldson and I had our own museum when we were in sixth grade. In the shed in his backyard we had a carefully curated collection of detritus like heart shaped sticks, a German licence plate, and a big wasps nest. We actually had some clearly lost and misguided tourists stop by when we were at school one day and I still wonder what kind of explanation his wonderful mother gave them.

Far more fun stuff at the Secret Museum sale today. Kip Normond has a great eye and there was an amazing mix of retro and vintage classics. I took home a 1940's bouncy horse and a set of big bongos. How bad did I want that deadly metal playground horse shown above? Pretty bad

Target must have known something was up

Sulking and reading about my fellow blogger's adventures at NY Fashion Week. I can't even get invited to Indy's Midwest Fashion Week so you know how truly lame my cred is. I was especially sad to miss THIS at Issac Mizrahi. His fur donut coat from 1998 was pretty silly but still wearable, however, I am just not sure about this. Given my penchant for giant purses, so big I keep another purse in them, you know, just for options, this would be a bad bad way to go, personally and that is seconded by my neck

Shopping today

Racks and racks of 70% off at BCBG. My two personal favorites, sadly the far right one was completely trashed in the zipper department and a size 0. But, hey, i did end up buying the left super pleated one. not like i go out or anything like that but it is a BCBG runway dress amazing styling and amazing price. Max does the details right and god love him for the price points

Happy happy joy joy

Unusually happy sweater (for me) with it's Le Tigre Friend. It elicited a "nice sweater" comment from a Whole Food employee and scared me as we all know I am the anti-thesis of the Whole Foods general concept.

Am I insane? did I just hear WZPL play Blister in the Sun?

Todays thrift

Sweet late 50's/early 60's brocade jacket. Is this not totally what J Crew is going for right now?At first I thought it was not for me but now am thinking perhaps with some slender shorts, either very small or almost knee length and lots of necklaces. Oh and this great ledger thing. Lovely blue color and period graphics, totally unused, I'm not sure what to do with it yet, it wants to be my infamous daily notebook/list but is just too heavy

Maternity top yet again

Busy busy Hazelhazel top, I usually don't go for all this frippery but thought my large hair needed a friend

Where can I get this

Here comes another difficult Amsterdam designer. Just graduating from Artez in 2006, Iris Van Herpen has staged 4 amazing runways shows, each highlighting her dedication to innovative craftsmanship. Make fun if you will but you, yes, you, could not think this up for love or money

Alas

I got the BCBGMAXAZRIA glossy in the mail and it makes me want a romper, or as my grandma used to call it playsuit, for spring. Something slouchy, accessorized with lots of necklaces and a chunky high heel. Sadly, I have a sneaking suspicion I am too old to wear that shit.

muscle and hate

ok yea I am happy to be getting out of the car enroute to the Mel. However. Another disappointing industrial night, perhaps it is the Detroit City girl in me that just ruins everything with hard core expectations. I just don't know. Hello NITZER EBB, LORDS OF ACID, SISTERS OF MERCY why is this so hard

Happy VD! er......

Here is my little Valentine pressie to myself. Last night, after tearing myself away from the black cherry Alma, I was entranced by these little purses in red, black, blue and green. What a great little wristlet! i exclaimed, oh so wrongly. The sales girl informed me it is not meant to be worn on your wrist but to accessorize your bag. Yes, apparently your purse needs a charm bracelet/coin purse all it's own

Four eyes, not counting the ones in the back of my head

Unlike the rest of my family, I don't need to wear glasses, haha. However it is fun to try them on at hip and trendy Ossip Optometry. These Infinity frames by Staffan Preutz are like angel dander they are so light and at $425, I would lose them in about ten seconds.

I'll take two

I went to the Louis Vuitton spring launch event at Saks tonight. Champagne and shiny shiny bags. I want to lick them. The grass green Alma was pretty hot and probably tastes like apple. You can also get turquoise, fuchsia and red flavors. The squishy Scuba line is a little weird and don't even get me started on the visor. I did buy myself a little something, to be revealed tomorrow, tho I had to wait forever to get rung up because the lady in front of me dropped like ten thousand dollars on 14 things. Come to think of it, ten thousand is probably a low guess
Moss dress so cute bow front and odd sash. Maybe it is supposed to be a scarf

Random

I hate this time of year. All the winter clearance is picked over and and you know any summery things you buy will be on sale by the time you actually wear it, just annoying. Anthropologie has some cute shoes, $20 or so, but all weird sizes like 40 and 6 1/2, did you know they do their markdowns on Tuesday? My lace trim skirt I have not even worn yet is now on clearance. SIGH.
Saks mens clearance additional 50% off, great RL shorts deals
Above, summery floral ruffle giant bag from Hidden Goods for $260, if you don't like purses bigger then your head, not sure why you would not but anyway, there is a smaller version as well. Get it at www.birkiland.com

That is not my ugly furniture

I solved the expose issue by adding a maternity(!!) tank and some weird hooded/furry/beaded flower shrug I got at a consignment shop. Cute, huh?

Thrifting

We both know this is a cheesy Missoni knock off but I could not resist the pretty colors and $2.00 price tag. Now what to do about the chesticle area, that is a serious V

Leopard is a neutral

Marc Jacobs sateen shirt, J Brand jeans, YSL shoes

you don't have to be a ***** any more

My friend Libby has some serious style. This is her go to outfit she just happens to be wearing to the Melody Inn's 80's new wave/weirdo night 2 NITE. I am a little bit more boring with grafitti pumps, vintage 70's pin dot sweater, bad hair and J Brand stud white jeans. The Mel, by the way, is having a 80's industrial night on anti-valentine day Friday, and I am so there. Tonight, I could barely contain myself when they played Muscle and Hate, I cannot imagine my state of mind if they bust out Sisters of Mercy More

Casual Friday

I must have hit my head and not only do I think it's Friday but I also am wearing red sneakers and tan trousers. No, I am not retarded. Did you get the Sixteen Candles reference? At least my J and Co angel wing jacket is cool.

Too much Perez

I always thought Christian Bale was menacingly hot when I saw him in that movie where he was a rich kid who killed a black basketball star for dating a white girl, was found not guilty then the kids mom shot him on the courthouse steps. Or maybe it was a Law and Order. Anywhoo, I heard this today and it, excitingly enough, employs two of my very favorite things, techno and the F word http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTihsJQHt48&feature=related

Comic

Finally made it to the new Gnosis location in Bro Rip. www.gnosisstore.com It's the Indy Kid Robot. Even if you don't collect disturbing anime collector toys there are some hard to find mags like Juxtpoz, Giant Robot and Swindle to inspire you as well as just some wacky keychains and stickers. I am taking the kids to pick out one of Mike Altmans cardbaord box paintings, you choose one of 50 @$50 each, to start their collection.

I hate you. and you. and also you.

I am grumpy because there is not one spot in this house that is not covered crap and clutter, it's like a toy store vomitorium in here. I had to snow shovel a space just to take this photo. Wearing surly minimalist Jill Sander cashmere sweater, cross Habitual striped jeans and crabby patty Nine West platform boots

Todays shopping

Here is a clandestine photo of a great Nanette Lepore dress at Saks that I got a total smack down for taking. God, next time I'll just take it in the dressing room and do it, geez. Speaking of Keystone at the Crossing, I did venture into English's Shoes, lured by the 50% off Ugg sale, which is about the only way you'd get me in there since most of their shoes are usually the clumpy comfortable type. But hey, if you know a nurse let them know they have some Dansko clogs on sale and they will love you. Nordstroms was fun, was lead around for 20 minutes by a saleswoman to see all their new spring dresses, they are carrying Yigal Azrouel now, hooray but sadly no clearance. J Crew, yummy spring colors, lots of fluffy coral and light green. Was a good girl, bought NOTHING, probably because it was too cold to take my clothes off for try-on

The greatest named clothing line ever

Stop Staring is a rockabilly retro 50's inspired line. I met the designer/owners at MAGIC in Vegas a few years ago and not only were they super cool, they showed me some really great future designs I am finally seeing in production. Nice price points, this Roselyn dress is $158. Even if you don't live it, you can certainly incorporate some of their more interesting pieces into your wardrobe and not look costume-ey. Can't get it in Indy but they do have a website www.stopstaringclothing.com

I thought I'd be spending time in the library today and you know how I love to dress for any occasion. Well this is my translation anyway with Burberry mini, Angela Keslar ruched leather top, vintage glasses

Fondue anyone?

Since my driveway has been cleared and my steps quasi so, I felt I could wear real shoes again. Going alpine today with shearling boots, ribbed Target leggings, and American Rag fair isle sweater dress

Must be pretty bored

The produce section at Marsh was mocking my lame attempts to organize my closet this weekend. Seriously perfect bok choy placement. From the library I requested this book "Does this clutter make my butt look big" or something like that. I am 26th in line for it so I'll have to get back to you later on the answer to that question
